True Blood is an American television drama series made and produced by Alan Ball. It is founded on the The Southern Vampire perplexities series of novels by Charlaine Harris, and details the co-existence of vampires and humans in Bon Temps, a fictional tiny Louisiana town. The series centers on Sookie Stackhouse ( Anna Paquin ), a psychic waitress at a bar, who falls in love with vampire Bill Compton ( Stephen Moyer ).
The show is broadcast on the premium wire network HBO in the US. It is produced by HBO in collaboration with Ball’s production company, Your Face Goes Here Entertainment. It premiered on Sep seven, 2008.
The 1st season received critical commend and won one or two awards, including one golden globe and an Emmy. The show’s second 12-episode season premiered on June fourteen, 2009. On July 30, 2009, HBO confirmed that True Blood would be replenished for a 3rd season which started shooting on December three, 2009 and will air in the summertime of 2010.
In January 2010, Alan Ball confirmed that there’ll be a 4th season of True Blood.
Production Development history
Series creator Alan Ball had formerly worked with premium cable channel HBO on 6 Feet Under, which ran five seasons. In October 2005, after 6 Feet Under’s series conclusion, Ball signed a two year agreement with HBO to develop and produce original programming for the network. True Blood became the 1st project under the deal, after Ball became familiar with Charlaine Harris’s Southern Vampire puzzle books.One day, while early for a dental appointment, Ball was reading through Barnes and Noble and found Dead until Dark, the 1st installment in Harris’s series. Enjoying it, he studied the following entries and took an interest in “bringing [Harris's] vision to television”.However, Harris already had two other adaption options for the books. He announced she selected to work with him, though, because “[Ball] actually ‘got’ me. That is how he convinced me to go with him. I just felt that he understood what I was doing with the books.
