Get The Most Space Out Of Your Dorm Room

College is an exciting time. It is the milestone between being under supervision and becoming an adult. This is a period of change. One major adjustment incoming college students will have to make is their living space.

Dorm rooms can be very tiny and they are often shared by two people. In order to get the most of this space, you have to sharpen your organizational skills. Some universities offer floor plans to the space. This can help give you an idea on what kind of furniture to prepare.

Keep in mind that many universities will not let you bring in your personal furniture. So wait before you purchase a full loft bed until you are certain about the school’s policy on furniture. Again, know the rules before you invest in furniture.

If you are responsible for setting up your own furniture, a loft bed can be a great space saver. It will double as your sleeping space and your workstation. If the school does not permit students to bring their own furniture, inquire about whether the twin beds provided are stackable. If your roommate agrees, safely stack them into bunk beds in order to save space.

Obviously, you will not be able to move in your dining room set, but you can get creative! You can use a storage crate that can easily become a coffee table when you need it to be one. When decorating for any kind of small space, choose multipurpose items to place inside the space.

For instance, use crates that are stackable for storing your things. You can use them for taking your belongings back and forth between home and school. Use these crates for storage under your bed while in the dorm room, placed neatly under your bed.

Use horizontal shelves to fill up space on empty walls. These shelves can work as book space, as well as a place for other important items. Putting up shelves can help you save space on your floor, giving your room a less cluttered feel to it.

Keep your dorm room clean and tidy. This will instantly give it a bigger feel. If you are cluttered and unorganized, it will only make your space seem smaller than it is!
