Say good bye to images of you in baby cribs, you are saying farewell to your baby years and entering adulthood. This can be an exciting and overwhelming time for you. In the midst of all this emotion, make sure you do not forget the essential things you will need when you start your college experience.
Before you pack your parents car trunk with things you probably won’t need like expensive king quilts (since you will most likely be crammed into a small dorm room), and tons of clothing, consider the basics. One very important, overlooked necessity is an alarm clock. Yes, believe it or not you are going to college to learn. In order to wake up on time for your classes, you need this very important piece of equipment.
If you are opting for a cell phone, make sure you have the right plan. Choose a plan that takes into consideration how often you use the phone. Also consider long distance minutes as well. You do not want to get charged extra for calls you make home.
So instead of investing in expensive clothing, think about the purchase of a laptop computer. Granted, there are computer labs on most campuses, but having your own computer will make studying easier. It will also make studying more convenient.
When packing your clothing, make sure to include a bathrobe. This is essential because you will be traveling from your dorm room to the showers frequently. You will need something to help you cover up on your trips to and from the bathroom! A modest pair of pajamas will also come in handy as well.
In addition to a bathrobe and pajamas, add a pair of inexpensive flip-flops to the list. You will need these flip-flops to help protect your feet from the shower floor. Keep your feet away from the germs that are on these bathroom floors.
Invest in a small basket that will help you carry your things back and forth from the bathroom to your dorm room. You will need it to keep your shampoo, soap and other items that you use while in the shower. Make sure its waterproof so it doesn’t ruin easily.
Keep in mind that although your do not need a luxurious bedding collection; you will need some sort of basic linens. Make sure you know the size of the bed you will be sleeping on in order to prepare. Have enough towels, blankets and pillows on hand, to make your dorm room a little cozier.
