When we think of tiffany lamps the first think that strikes our mind is its vibrant colors, bejewelled, dragonfly design stained glass lampshades. Louis Comfort Tiffany was the man who created tiffany lamp. He was an American and son of a New York jeweller, Charles Tiffany. He took advantage of the electrical era with the vibrant artistic movement called Art Nouveau. He was in Europe at the time when the movement was reaching its full development and it profoundly affected his creative ideas and influenced his artwork.

He created the stained glass in a whole spectrum of peacock colours. These stained glasses were a perfect medium for softening and diffusing the barrenness of the light. With this new innovative design Louis Comfort Tiffany created an excellent masterpiece. His designs had different shades of colour and light mixed together in such a way that the end result was outstanding. These lamps made from glass and metal became very popular among people as they had a different glow and colours than normal glass lamps.

Created by skilled craftsmen these lamps were expensive and were bought only by wealthy Americans. He made lot of new designs by experimenting with glass and using the blown glass techniques. In his team he employed many craftsmen’s and glassblowers to help him make these unique lamps. His designs and lamps were adored and appreciated by everyone.

The term “Favrile” is used to define designs which had colours in the glass among the tiffany lamps. The word “Favrile” means by hand and this technique was patented by Tiffany in 1880. These designs were different from the stained glass technique which was used in Europe.

Tiffany was the man who introduced color into glass and the term “Favrile” is used in the world of tiffany lamps to define it. Actual meaning of favrile is by hand and Tiffany patented the technique around 1880.It was a very unique style of colored glass and was unlike the stained glass which was very prevalent in European artwork. It was just the coloring of a pain glass.

Tiffany’s indigenous technique for producing coloured glasses was magical and quite effective. He designed different colours by using different metal vapours. The copper vapour spray resulted in greenish blue to a rich ruby red and the cobalt vapour produced a spectrum of blue shades and if mixed with manganese it gave the black colour. Glass colour variation was even done by changing the furnace conditions and temperatures.

Dragonfly, peacocks, wisteria, water lilies etc are some of the most famous designs of tiffany lamps which are very famous and almost loved by everyone. Earlier these lamps use to cost a fortune but with time you can find many cost effective lamp shades which are reproduction pieces that have captured the style of that period really well.

There are many online stores which offer a wide range of lamps which are very affordable and decorative. Colour glasses make the whole place look more vibrant and lively and hence these lamps are choices of many people.

Tiffany lamps enhance the appearance of your homes through its very intricate design and style. Its illumination provides the required amount of light necessary for a room. It also exudes glamor and elegance. Or you may want to try unique lamps.

Have fun with your kids while doing something useful - container gardening! This will certainly help keep them from getting bored and they will love learning how to plant in garden pots. And, seriously, what could possibly be better than getting their little hands dirty while growing their own food. They might just be inclined to try some new foods they wouldn’t ordinarily try (I know this works since I saw it happen with my own 6-year old son.)

Containers

Let’s start off with the containers. Garden pots come in a wide variety of styles and materials they are made from, like clay, stone, wood, plastic, etc. For kids, the safest material to use is plastic - its lightweight and its pretty hard to break. The next best option is wood but wood containers are mostly used for decoration as they don’t hold water well and a plastic pot will have to be placed inside the wood container.

This is a really good time to have your kids decorate the pots. On both wood and plastic, acrylic paint works great. Be sure to use paints that are non-toxic. Once your child is finished, pick out a location now where you want the pot to go since it will be harder and heavier to move when its filled with soil.

The Potting Soil

I recommend that instead of using just your average dirt, use a good potting soil. They are specially blended for small containers and hold water (a great benefit since there is less maintenance). Getting your plants off to a good start is always a great idea and is easy if you use the proper nutrients. Check the guide on the side of the fertilizer bag for the recommended amount to use. Just don’t add too much as this could kill the plants.

Plants

Whether flowers, vegetables, or herbs, choosing your plants by type is an easy way to start. Once you have the type picked out, choose the size of plant appropriate to the size of your pots. Some plants will require larger pots (like tomatoes). You can always transplant them into larger pots if they get too big for the pot you started with. This is a great project for your kids (and YOU). They are sure to love seeing (and also eating) the fruits of their labor.

Before starting any project using garden pots, make sure you check out Andy Raydalls web site about container gardening: All Garden Pots.

The majority of children enjoy pretend play at whatever age. Fortunately, there are plenty of age-appropriate objects that you can buy that encourage this hobby. Despite the technology-based toys that are now so common, the imagination is still alive and well, as is obvious by the fact that most children still love the traditional toys that mimic real objects. You should choose among the toys that enable pretend play, keeping in mind your child’s age and personal interests.

The traditional toys for girls include dollhouses with little dolls, larger baby dolls, and accessories that go along with both. Many girls swap between both sizes of dolls. A dollhouse typically includes small furniture, appliances, and clothes for the dolls. However, life-size baby dolls often come with even more accessories since they are larger and safer for young children. For example, if you get your daughter a doll, you can expect that she will want all the accessories for a real baby. You can buy a stroller, clothes, diapers, and fake food, all of which make pretend play more realistic, and thus more enjoyable for children. Luckily, many of the accessories available have several uses. One example is pretend food and fake dishes, which can be used both when playing with dolls and when having an elegant tea party.

Boys have many pretend play toys available to them, as well. Tiny cars, trucks, and train sets are pretty popular with boys of all ages. Some cars and trucks are simple and demand a lot of imagination, while others are remote-controlled or have wheels that actually push the vehicle a few feet when pushed in a backward motion. Any kind can be exciting to children, who typically put some imagination into anything they do. You can also get more unique regarding what you get them. For example, instead of buying the typical passenger cars or trucks, you can buy construction automobiles like dump trucks, big rigs, and bulldozers. Whatever gets their imagination running is typically best for any age group.

There are also numerous pretend play toys that are appropriate for either gender. Most girls and boys like dressing up. Halloween is not the one occasion on which children love to wear costumes. Most kids are okay with being a princess, firefighter, astronaut, surgeon, and more any night of the week. Buying costumes can be a fun way to promote some creativity, and to simply celebrate being a kid. Plus, they definitely can be reused, such as on Halloween, making this kind of pretend play inexpensive.

No matter the gender, age, or favorites of your children, pretend play is probably a major part of their lives. Promoting this custom is simple when you have various toys that encourage the use of imagination. Fortunately, there is a wide range of pretend play items on the market, permitting you to select the best products for your kid.

There are so many reasons why you wouldn’t purposely go out and buy RC aircraft just to go out and crash the thing on purpose. Here are just some of the reasons why.

Price

If you are going out and wanting to buy one of the really decent models you are looking at way over £500 which of course means that if you crash the thing you are going to have to replace it. The cheapest of things to do and although there are in fact many RC Spares that you can go and buy to replace broken ones but there is no way back if you have a petrol RC as it will explode upon impact to anything really.

Time

These things are not just ready to fly out of the box and they will take a lot of time if you are building one of the bigger models that is for sure. On top of this it can be something that you can do with the kids and a bit of bonding time and to destroy this would be pretty harsh.

What Is The Point?

Is there a point in saving up to buy a really nice plane just to fly it into something. People may think it will be a great video on YouTube but that doesnt mean you are going to be getting your money back so make sure you know this. However if you do have a lot of money then do it, simply for others to enjoy!

If you are hell bent on destroying things then go for something a bit cheaper like the plastic model kits. Perhaps it can be saved as you can glue it back together.

If your not into the planes why not try one of those RC tanks as they can be really quite fun to drive and have a mess around on, also they are very hard to break so they could be a great gift for a child or someone that is always breaking the things that they own.

Making Beeswax Candle Tips - Candles with the Kids

The warm illuminating glow it emits. That deliciously fragrant smell as your candle fades. Sigh! Making beeswax candles is truly a “ton” of fun!

The art of beeswax candlemaking is a wonderful DIY project for your children. With this project, the children may stay as far away as possible from stoves and melting wax. Beeswax candle making is a neat and tidy project with easy-to-find materials.

Creating Beeswax Candle Tips - Items that You Do Need

8 inch by 16 inch sheets of beeswax

Primed wick sliced for a one inch candle

A small paring knife from your kitchen

Flat open surface

Learn to Make Beeswax Candles

Lay out your sheet of beeswax

Slice wick approximately 3/4 inches longer than wax sheet (allowing excess on both sides of candle)

Leaving available wick at each ends allows you the choice to decide which side of the candle you prefer as the top and which side the bottom.

Lay wick on edge of sheet and begin to start rolling beeswax by folding over 1/8 inch of wax. This seam will enclose the wick securely. With the tips of your fingers, roll the wax around the wick in a straight and secure line while pushing both sides at the same time. This will be the only time at which you will place any hard pressure while you are making beeswax candle.

Another option would be flipping the wax then folding it down to form a seam—about 1/8 inches—with a counter corner or perhaps a cutting board. Whether you go with the first or the latter, do be sure your efforts produce a textbook-quality seam.

Candle thickness is something you need to consider when you’re making your candle. You’ll have to add more beeswax if you want a thicker candle. Do this by placing the additional wax sheet edge to edge with the original, melding the pieces together with your thumb. Make sure you don’t stop rolling the beeswax until it’s wrapped entirely around itself.

With your thumbs, press the corners of the beeswax down softly upon reaching the end.As you continue working on other parts of the candle, imagine making a seam as you go.

Select what could be the ideal part to serve as the candle’s top then shave the wick 1/2 inches from the wax. Don’t forget to remove the remaining wick from the bottom.

Although the younger ones might not find these parts enjoyable, you and other parents certainly would. So go ahead, ceremoniously light your glorious achievement, inhale the exotic perfume and enjoy this splendid moment! But for kids? And voila — their very own candles!

And while you are learning to make wax candles keep in mind that the makings of candles have been here for centuries. Originally, the goal was to have a source of light…an obvious necessity during those times. But at present, a lot of people simply take up candlemaking for recreational purposes. There could be a number of other reasons for it. As mentioned above, this activity is often taken up for personal purposes. At times, they also make a wonderful gift on equally wonderful celebrations. Many parents decide to teach their children how to make wax candles as a craft project. Finally, the last reason is profit. Some people create candles to sell for their own individual business venture.

More often than not, a digital sport watch is capable of doing other things than just tell the time. Some of them can tell your heart rate, depth underwater, speed, position and others. These features are very much important for those who are involved in sports, as well as other similar endeavors.

But more than the additional features, it’s also designed to outlive most other types of watches. Its construction is strong enough to endure the rigors of sports and active lifestyle. It’s no wonder why it is popular among athletes, as well among those who want true value for their hard-earned money.

But just because it’s able to withstand things other wristwatches can’t doesn’t mean you can treat it roughly. Still, the life span of a timepiece also depends on how its owner treats it.

Sudden shifts in temperature may cause its plastic components to go out of shape. It may even affect the rubber seals to warp, which can affect the timepiece’s ability to resist water or shocks effectively. Wearing your watch in a steam room for minutes then diving into the pool is a bad idea.

Most sports watches’ straps and cases are fashioned from polyurethane or other hard plastic materials. For regular cleaning of such parts, a dry or damp cloth may be used. For cleaning stains like grease or other sticky substances, you may use a toothbrush dipped in soapy water. Refrain from using harsh solvents and chemicals for cleaning the graphic lcd. A damp cloth will rid the surface of dirt and stains.

After using it for swimming at the beach or exposing to hard water, make it a habit to rinse your wrist watch with water. This will help get rid of the salt and potential deposition of minerals. Also, just because it’s water-resistant doesn’t mean you can use it for all water activities. Check the leaflet carefully. Sometimes a water-resistant watch may be used for moderate swimming, but not automatically for diving.

Sports watches can withstand the rapid movements of the arms, such as in playing tennis or similar sports. However, it’s not recommendable to deliberately put your timepiece’s shock-resistance ability to the test. Even it has certain limitations. So skip exposing it to unwanted vibrations or droppings. Or else you might damage the led backlight and other features.

For replacing batteries or worn out parts, or for cleaning the interiors, it’s best to have a professional do it for you. Also, read the manual to see what other considerations your wristwatch necessitates. If you take good care of it, you will enjoy your timepiece for many years.

To begin with, you should consider your individual pocket. Children’s bedroom furniture generally falls into 2 classes: high quality furniture, which is likely to be more dear, and lower priced bedroom furniture. There are plenty of choices for all individual budgets, and if you’re thinking about doing it on a budget, there’s still a huge choice of kids and teens furniture for you to choose from.

You may pick single furniture units for example wooden chairs, armchairs, tables, desks and all types of beds, as well as hand made and hand finished beds and furniture pieces with particular consideration to detail. Alternatively, you might select a complete children’s bedroom furniture array from a range of fun themes including the more trendy fairy, pirate, football and princess styles. For matching bedroom furniture for children you should take a look at customised furniture, kid’s beds, children’s bunk beds and the enormous mixture of alternative children’s furniture ideas.
Cut price bedroom furniture can still award you with the feel of a designer bedroom. This might help you to save money if you are in your first place. It’s also a means to re build your room when you essentially do not have the money for a new bedroom set. Here is how to acquire cheap bedroom furniture that doesn’t look cheap.

Attempt to put together mismatched tables and furniture. This doesn’t need to finish up giving the impression of a college dormitory. Most individuals and designers utilise this technique so that their rooms don’t end up looking like a page from a catalogue. Also, it will save you enormous amounts of money. The secret is to choose all of your low price bedroom furniture in the same theme and wood finish. That way it ought to seem like an intentional choice instead of merely picking what you had the funds for.

Soccer practice

You’ve probably heard it a hundred times that practice makes a man perfect. And it’s true when it comes to soccer practice sessions. The kids enter the ground everyday with a hope to try something exciting and new. Nevertheless, it’s imperative that kids practice regularly the old techniques in soccer training as well that have been taught to them.

So the challenge before you is to ensure that monotony does not set in despite the kids practicing a few identical drills everyday. The following tips should help you carry out practice sessions in a disciplined, exciting, and regular manner.

1. Do I need to emphasize this more? You are the kid’s instructor and therefore they will imitate your actions. Be present on the filed before the kids; demonstrate your skill with the ball, let all the kids participate, and arrange sessions ahead of time. This will help you win the players respect and trust.

2. Tell the kids to come to the field daily with a ball of their own. Every kid is necessarily required to have a soccer ball. But have a few extra balls ready in case the kids forget to carry theirs.

Soccer Training

3. There are some soccer moves which require regular practice. In soccer practice, kicking, passing, dribbling, and throw-ins are indispensible. The kids are required to practice these repeatedly. Ensure that everyone participates in it even though some may show lack of enthusiasm initially.

4. Initiate games more than soccer drills in your practice sessions. The reason is that games require much more stamina and dexterity in contrast to drills. In addition, you can research on new methodologies while maintaining the focus on soccer with games.

5. Control is crucial for success for any team. With children, it is common to make mistakes. You must curb all instances of indiscipline no matter how small or big. But do it prudently and with the fact in mind that kids need special counseling.

6. During the training session, you will observe that there are some players who do not participate in the drill. Make certain that this does not take place. All the young players should involve themselves in the game. Talk to the players about their respective positions and teach them to be responsible in those positions.

7. Do not make them scrimmage a lot. About 15 to 20 minutes at the end of the session is good enough. And a goalie is not required in scrimmaging. This will make the team good at defense.

8. Keep looking for new methodologies and games. This is the most recommended way of keeping the students interested in the training sessions.

Now, implement these tips in your soccer practice sessions. These tips will help your kids raise their performances in a short span. Our youth soccer coaching community is full of resources on soccer coaching. Register today and see your team’s performances get better with every training session.

Teenage boys are not the most diligent people. Generally speaking, they tend to be forgetful, and are easily distracted. As you son is preparing to spend the night with a friend, he may overlook many things. Luckily, he has mindful parents that provide patient reminders.

It is amazing the number of times that he can leave to stay all night somewhere and not once think about taking his sleepwear or toothbrush. You would think he would get uncomfortable sleeping in his clothes. How awful his breath will be in the morning! It is a small wonder that he has friends left afterwards! These are essential items.

How could he possibly think about something as silly as pajamas? He has his takamine acoustic guitar to tune and pay attention to. They do not plan on sleeping anyway. They will be up all night practicing and writing songs and you are worrying for nothing, he tells you. You stop to pity the other boy’s parents for a moment, and then quickly offer to speed up the packing process for him.

A group of teenage boys and go through an unbelievable amount of pop. Be thoughtful and considerate and send an extra case with your son. While the boys are getting together to fine tune their musical talents the burden of supplying them with carbonated drinks should not fall to one family. While you are at it, you may as well send some chips, too.

Being up all night usually means that hungry strikes at unusual times. Try to remember to send along an extra ten dollars so that he is able to chip in for pizza delivery at midnight. Make sure to remind him to tip the driver. This will really resonate with him if you mention he may have a part-time job in the near future.

As you make sure that nothing has been forgotten, you notice that he has added a pair of women’s brown boots to the bag. What could he want with these? After thinking for a moment or two you decide that some questions are better left unasked.

Even though he is growing up quickly, he still needs you to look out for him. Do not forget to irritate him with questions about where he will be, who he will be with, when he will be back, and whose parents will be there. He will thank you in a few years.

It’s always fun to get out and enjoy yourself with your family. Taking a trip together is a great way to get closer to one another and let loose. However, taking young kids can get stressful, since they can get needy and agitated during long drives or flights. Hopefully, this article will have some tips to help make your trip easier.

Long drives or trips on flights can be very boring for young children. Sometimes, they become so restless that they start screaming, crying, or doing something even worse. Always pack toys, games, books, and coloring pencils for the kids to enjoy while traveling. Don’t pack markers, your kids might end up drawing on your vehicle.

Pack some tasty snacks that the kids will enjoy. It’s important to give them something that’s good for them, but since it’s a trip, it’s okay to give them a sweet treat too.

It’s important to make stops during long drives. Before heading out, find out if there are any nice restaurants on the way, as well as fun activities to do and places to see. Also take note of public bathrooms.

Get each of your children a digital sport watch and make sure they wear them for the entire vacation. There might be a time when you decide to separate and they’ll need to know when to get back to your meeting point.

It might be a good idea to provide your children with cell phones. This will keep them connected to you at all times and the ability to call emergency services if necessary.

Make sure you pack tons of clothing for the kids. There’s no telling just how messy they’ll get while on holiday or if you’ll even have any access to a laundromat or a washing machine. If they always have clean clothes, your trip will be a happier one.

If sports and outdoor activities are on your itinerary, be sure to take the necessary equipment. Since safety is always important, always take protective wear, like padding and helmets. For skiing, try a Giro ski helmet. You may even be able to use that helmet for other sports.

Once the trip is over, you can all make a scrapbook together that includes all the memories you’ve made during your vacation. This will be fun for the whole family to do. Also, younger kids may enjoy making a Disney scrapbook.

Family vacations can end up being the most fun you and your kids have all year. Plan well and stay calm to make the most of it.
