Understandably, there are many parents out there that do not understand all of the gadgets and things kids play with nowadays. Back in the day all people had were things like Hornby trains and other simple things like this. It would seem that nowadays it is all about high tech gadgets that parents do not get. However is it a case of parents not understanding or not wanting to understand?
Technology Is Changing
Parents really must realise that the days of playing with wooden toys are long gone, this is the age of video games and fast RC helicopters and parents sometimes just cannot be bothered to get updated with this. The real problems start to show when the parents cannot be bothered to keep up with the times I feel. I am still not that old and when I asked my Father to play a video game with me he did not actually want to but he did and he really enjoyed it, he now plays them regularly.
Technology does not take that much effort to get into so why not at least give it a go with your child.
The Way The World Is
The reason things do not stay the same in the world is because it would get boring, the same applies to technology. However, there are things that stick around from times past such as Scalextric sets so if you are a parent do not worry, not all is actually lost.
Really, the best advice to give to a parent is to go with the flow, try out these new things and inventions with your kids, time spent with them is very important. In the end, this is something well worth doing.
