How Valuable is Life? Pro Life Speaker, Chet McDoniel, Says it is Priceless

Babies No Comments »

Need a real world example of why pro life is such an important cause? Hi, meet me. My name is Chet McDoniel, and in 1980, I was born with no arms. Why is the pro life cause so important to me? Well, in some countries, I would have been killed within minutes of being born just because I looked different.

In the United States, though, we are above such practices, right? No one is murdered through abortion just for looking different or for having a body that is differently formed. I would love for that to be true, but I know from my own history that it simply is not.

My mom went through an extremely difficult birth process with me, and had it not been for an heroic obstetrician, we both would have died. However, that same physician who saved my life decided he would then place me in a corner, leave me alone, and give me “a chance to die.”

Now, that was in 1980, but the fact remains that a doctor made the decision that my life may not be worth living. What gives one human the right to determine whether or not another human should live? Could he know then, that as a thirty year-old, I would have a wife, daughter, and live a rich, full life?

The question of abortion has come up in my life as my parents have been asked if they would have chosen abortion had they known about my lack of arms prior to me being born. I’m proud to say that they have answered many times that abortion would have never been considered. Even they could not have guessed how great my life would be.

The doctor at my birth, while I owe him my life, was wrong. He should not have given me the “chance to die,” and obviously, I disagreed with him even back then. My life is so wonderful that I try to tell every person I meet that you can truly be happy in any circumstance. Life IS priceless!

I speak all over this nation about the value of life and how to be happy. If my life can have purpose and meaning, then abortion has no place in this world. I love getting to be an example of how life is truly valuable. I can think of no better way to conclude my talks but by saying, “If I can do it, so can you.”

Here is a clip from one of the many events where I have gotten to speak:

Adore Readying for the Entrance of Your Bundle of Joy

Discovering you will become a parent is incredibly exciting. When your family is about to expand, you will have to make some preparations for the new arrival. Preparing your baby’s nursery is a activity that helps you focus on the imminent arrival. Usually, new parents look forward to most of the action that surrounds putting together a nursery, including the choices of furniture, paint, and baby bedding.

The color scheme you decide upon for the nursery will depend on whether you want to know the sex of the baby, beforehand. While some people like to choose gender-neutral colors, others like to know the gender of their baby so they can pick clothes and bedding that are gender-specific. You need to be careful about selecting a color scheme for your nursery even if you know your future child’s gender, because the colors will influence the nursery’s decor.

Crib bedding is one of the first choices new parents make and sets the tone for their other nursery decorating decisions. There are several options in bedding for children, including those that will be only used as crib bedding, or those that are suitable for several stages of life for your young child. Whether it’s pink petals for a girl, baseballs and footballs for a boy, or a trendy gender-neutral brown palette, the nursery is guaranteed to be uniquely yours.

Usually, couples choose the baby bedding and coloring and then paint the room to fit the baby rooms. New parents are incredibly choosy when it comes to their baby’s nursery and will spend hours shopping to find the right decor. You will spend a lot of time making sure that the room is exactly how it should be before the baby arrives safely at home.

Even after all the preparations have been secured, nothing can prepare couples for the sheer joy they will experience as they rock their new baby to sleep in the room prepared especially for them, tucking them in under the baby bedding agonizingly chosen for just them. A new baby inevitably changes parents’ lives, and home life forever.

Get Your Child To Sleep So You Can Sleep Too

by Penny Jones

It is very common for new parents to be concerned about their newborn’s sleep habits. You will be able to sleep more soundly and more regularly once your baby has a regular sleep pattern. It takes infants a little time to develop consistent sleep patterns. You should begin to see your baby’s sleeping habits become more regular around 3 months of age. Until that time, there are a few things you can do to help encourage the development of consistent, regular sleeping habits.

When an infant is born it requires a lot of sleep. Parents have to be very aware of sleeping and eating habits and requirements in newborns because these elements are so essential to the child’s development. You will notice that even though your baby sleeps a lot, it is usually not for long periods of time. Baby’s wake when they need to eat or need a diaper change and those needs must be tended to on demand. It will be easiest on you if the baby sleeps in a bassinet or small crib as a newborn. This will also allow you to more closely observe the baby’s sleep patterns.

It is fine to encourage your baby to sleep alone, but you may want to start with a crib or bassinet in your room. This keeps the baby nearby and allows you to respond in case of emergency. The best way to make a baby comfortable is to hold it closely, comforting the child with the warmth and love of a parent. You can also swaddle the baby in a blanket to make him feel warm, secure, and comfortable.

Some babies do not like to sleep alone. This is normal at first. You can help your baby slowly develop a habit of lying down and sleeping alone with a little practice. Just keep in mind that all babies have different sleeping habits. Begin by swaddling your baby and laying him alone for a couple of naps during the day. You can slowly increase the number of times you place the baby down alone. This gradually acclimates your baby to sleeping alone.

It is not unusual for newborn babies to wake hungry during the night. In time, the infant will grow out of this sleep disruption. In the meantime, encourage good sleep patterns and habits by allowing the baby to sleep in a darkened room and keeping environmental stimulation to a minimum.

Getting Nursery Bedding for Your Bundle of Joy is a Diverting Adventure

by Dorothea Frankson

One of the very first things in the preparation of your home for the new arrival is going out to buy baby bedding. Since both you and your child will spend a great deal of time in this room, you want to make sure it’s both safe and enjoyable for everyone. You can buy the very exclusive baby shops, go to consignment shops, or use from friends, but whatever your finances you can make a gorgeous space for baby with great nursery themes.

The choice of patterns and styles of baby bedding and the window treatments and wall treatments to match is as wide as the range of families bringing home infants. If your space availability is small you can go for simple patterns. The typical design favored by some people when it comes to decorating a baby’s room includes using popular, well-loved characters from classic children’s books, TV shows, or films – sometimes even idols from their own youth. Some parent want bright colors and patterns to create a vibrant and stimulating place for their infant. Sometimes people choose ethnic styles as a celebration of family heritage. Parents need to be creative and resourceful when searching through nursery themes.

But what about parents expecting multiples? Increasing numbers of families are birthing twins, triplets and sometimes even larger groups of siblings. Some families are looking for new ideas for their child’s bedding to give them something different then the rest of the neighborhood.

You might only require one set, since some doctors recommend that multiples share the same crib as newborns. If you’re having more than one baby, it’s even more important to keep the design of your nursery uncomplicated, because you need to be able to find everything easily, and to be able to take care of your children in as streamlined a way as possible.

Crib bedding is a very important part of the baby’s crib which is crucial for a baby’s comfort. To ensure the health of your baby, it’s a good idea to wash all new bedding with infant safe detergent before your child uses them. Check with your pediatrician to see what is safe in the bed with baby at different ages for at certain ages, baby should not have a pillow or a thick quilt. It is important to make sure of the size of your crib, to ensure a perfect fit of your new baby bedding.

While keeping all this in mind, enjoy the task of making a beautiful haven for your child.

Facets of Baby Room Adornment: The Vital Parts and The Excesses

by Dorothea Frankson

The set-up of a nursery will be a major part of planning for the new addition to your family. Baby room decoration begins with meticulous pre-planning of the area intended for the nursery room. Will the baby be rooming with you for the first few months, or will he or she move into a new bedroom? Are there siblings already in the room with their own needs? A lot of families decide to have a nursery, but also have a bassinet or a co-sleeper for the baby to sleep at night, specifically if the baby will be breastfeeding. For this design, the baby bedding will be plain: only a flat blanket for the baby to rest on, with no blankets. It is always better to keep babies in thick comfortable clothing rather than under a barrage of blankets.

When the time comes for your baby to stay in a separate nursery, it is of paramount importance to obtain the right baby equipment. The federal government regularly issues guideline updates for safe crib dimensions, not least for the space between the rungs. Remember, heirloom cribs are beautifully made but you must take into consideration the safety of your baby.

Baby bedding should not fit too loosely in the crib; otherwise, the baby can pull the sheets free and get entangled or, worst of all, suffocate. The ability to be washed fast and well should be some of the reasons why baby bedding should be selected for its hard-wearing capabilities. Baby poop and vomit both stain white sheets better than any substance known to man, so while that frilly lamb pattern might be cute, consider how less cute it will be covered in regurgitated carrots. Dark colors and patterns help mask stains that may occur on crib bedding.

While a changing table is not essential, it does make diaper changes simpler and more convenient. Till the stage your baby is small to be in diapers, it is convenient to have a dresser with a built-in changing table. Once the child grows older and is potty trained, he requires a regular dresser with more room to store. Conventional changing tables ought to include rails to use, however safety straps are ideal. Any changing table should include a cloth changing pad, also most likely in a dark color that will hide the unavoidable poop spots.

A diaper bin’s contents are at your discretion, but it is a familiar addition to a changing table. Disposable diapers require a sealed odor-resistant garbage pail, while cloth diapers must be kept accessible for laundering. Choose whatever works best for you, knowing that odors are hard to fight in the nursery in general.

You won’t need a rocking chair, but after a couple of late nights coaxing your baby to sleep, it’s something you’ll want to have. You may choose to buy any thing new but with rocking chairs you can blindly purchase a used one, for the older they are, they offer you more comfort. Your Grandma will vouch for this viewpoint.

Decoration comes last in the process of getting the nursery together, but it is the most fun. It’s not necessary to limit yourself to designs created for infants. Think about your dreams for the baby or what makes your family special. Winnie the Pooh and Noah’s Ark are common decorative themes for a nursery, but children feel special from the beginning if they have a room filled with dragons, moons and stars, or even photos of family and friends. If you raise your baby with creativity, he is likely to imitate you.

Investing In A Kalani Crib For Your Baby

Babies No Comments »
by Joseph Ramadan

Why pay for a toddler bed and a crib when you can purchase both when you own a DaVinci Kalani convertible baby crib? This crib is one of the newest in a history of exceptional baby cribs from DaVinci, a leader in convertible baby cribs. Comprable to the other cribs from this company, the DaVinci Kalini convertible baby crib is able to transform from a baby crib to a toddler bed.

A baby needs to be in a crib until he or she is around 2 years old. At this time, you should try to move that baby to a bed. Quite a few parents worry that standard beds are too expansive for babies so they choose to move their children from cribs to toddler beds. Toddler beds are closer to the ground and have railings to stop children from rolling out. The DaVinci Kalani convertible baby crib effortlessly changes to a toddler bed after a baby is old enough to leave the crib.

While your baby is very small, you need to position the mattress of the DaVinci Kalani convertible baby crib up to the top level. In this way an infant is contained by the bars of the crib but is at the same time easy to reach. Many new mothers take advantage of the baby crib as a diaper changing station, which the crib will accommodate at times where the mattress is up high enough, enabling you to reach in.

The DaVinci Kalani convertible baby crib helps you to reach in and get a baby, without having to reach down and hurt your back. There are no complicated parts in the crib and it is surprisingly easy to set up. Virtually anyone is able to assemble this crib in nearly half an hour. After it is assembled, it is simple to employ. You may position the mattress for a couple of useful locations that adjust as baby gets bigger.

While you need to have the mattress to the top of the crib when your baby is a newborn, you will want to lower the mattress when that baby grows out of the infant stage and begins moving around his crib. When the baby is sitting up without your help, you ought to move the mattress to the bottom of the crib. Growing babies will usually manage to haul themselves up in their cribs so that they are able to see their mothers. You naturally prefer to position the mattress low so your little one can safely stand yet cannot climb out of the crib and to the floor.

Once the child starts displaying signs that he is trying to actively climb out of the crib, he is too old for a crib and should be put into a bed. At that very moment, you may not feel comfortable placing your toddler in a bed, so you might change the DaVinci Kalani convertible baby crib into a toddler bed to ease that transition. As the child grows up a bit and outgrows his toddler bed, you might convert the DaVinci Kalani convertible baby crib into a daybed or a twin bed.

Wish You Could Conceive A Girl?

Babies No Comments »
by Kathy Forcey

Are you wishing that you had a little girl to round out your family of rambunctious boys? What if someone walked up to you right now and told you that they could teach you how to conceive a girl, would you believe it? Well, the good news is that it is possible. Women all across the globe are able to have little girls because of the techniques they chose.

How to conceive a girl can be accomplished by using either the natural process or you could go the clinical process. Clinical procedures will certainly carry a higher success rate for conceiving a girl, but it is still not a 100% guarantee. That is nearly impossible without some invasive and costly procedures that may present emotional issues for many folks.

The human reproduction process is something we learned back in college or high school biology. You probably already know that sperm contains both X and Y chromosomes and depending on which one fertilizes the egg which only has the X chromosome, you’ll have a boy or girl. So contrary to what some people believe, dads are the ones who are actually the variable in the equation.

What many people may not be aware of is the lifespan of sperm once it leaves the male’s body. Sperm can live up to 5 to 7 days inside the female body depending on the reproductive environment, such as whether she is ovulating and cervical mucus conditions, etc.

Once sperm enters the female reproductive tract, and considering that there is a fifty/fifty chance of a boy or girl, how to conceive a girl becomes a matter of which sperm, X or Y reaches the ripened egg first. Female or X sperm is known to be stronger but moves more slowly than male or Y sperm which is weaker but moves more rapidly.

When you have sexual intercourse a few days before ovulation and refrain afterwards, then the likelihood of having a female baby is going to increase. This can be explained by the fact that since X sperm can survive for up to seven days in the woman’s uterus, it can ultimately reach the fallopian tube when the ripened egg is released and fertilize it before the Y sperm. Even though Y sperm is faster, it is weaker and the likelihood that it will survive past the ovulation period is less than that of the X sperm.

How to conceive a girl seems like it might take a bit of effort to work successfully, but judging by the number of happy couples who use natural techniques to conceive and give birth to baby girls, it is certainly worth the effort. Remember that no guarantees can be made other then you’ll cherish your new baby, boy or girl.

Backpack Baby Carriers – 3 Important Points To Check Before Buying

Babies No Comments »
by Miranda Xavier

Just because you have a child does not mean that you have to sacrifice your life. A backpack baby carrier is a good way to stay active once you are a parent.

An uncomfortable baby carrier will soon put you off going out at all, so below I have details the three most important aspects to check before you buy a backpack baby carrier.

1. Your Babies Comfort – A crying baby will make for a miserable trip, so you need to be sure that your baby is comfortable and stays comfortable if they fall asleep. You do not want the baby to sleep awkwardly or to have straps poking into them.

Tip – There should be good padding all around the baby with plenty of cushioning around the head, so if the baby falls asleep they will still be comfortable.

Depending on the age and size of your child you may want to look into foot supports. These support the child’s feet so that there is less pressure on the lower back and pelvis.

2. Adult Comfort – A backpack baby carrier should be comfortable for the adult as well as the baby. If you do not have the correct carrier you will find that you soon suffer with neck, shoulder or back pain.

Tip – The shoulder straps should be wide and well padded, as should the hip support. All straps should be adjustable while the carrier is on. Finally the length of the carrier should be adjustable. If the length of the carrier is incorrect the weight of the carrier will not be correctly distributed between the hips and shoulders.

3. Accessories – To ensure that your child has a safe and fun time it is important to have the correct accessories. The most important accessories are those pertaining to the weather.

Tip – Wind and sun can leave a child’s skin burnt very quickly, and rain will cause discomfort and can lead to other illnesses. Your carrier should have good wind, rain and sun covers. These should attach easily and securely. In the best carriers the covers will be located in a designated compartment which is easy to access. Your carrier should have well designed compartments and space for baby essentials such as snacks, spare clothes and nappy change equipment.

I became very attached to the mirror which comes with the Bushbaby carrier. This is attached by a tie to a pocket on the waist support and allows you to check on your baby. Sounds totally unnecessary, but it is great to be able to see you baby either sleeping soundly or see them giggling as you enjoy the countryside.

Finally, a child learns more in their first two years than at any time in their life, so sharing the great outdoors with them is a wonderful start.

The Benefits Of Using Cloth Baby Diapers

Babies No Comments »
by Adam Webster

Cloth baby diapers help to prevent the overflow of disposable diapers in our landfills. That is an excellent reason for using them, but there are so many more reasons why you should give cloth diapers a try.

Cloth diapers have always had a bad reputation and it was well earned. They were messy and inefficient for any busy mother. The leaks were uncontrollable and they tended to cause diaper rash in many babies. The development of disposable diapers was a relief to our early mothers.

Your early ancestors would be shocked at the look, feel, and convenience of the modern cloth diapers. They have overthrown that nasty reputation that they once had and finally built a good name for themselves.

Benefits of changing to cloth diapers

Cloth diapers have are nothing like those that our mothers and grandmothers once used. There is no longer a need to worry about messy leaks and soggy messes. The new cloth diapers are just as convenient as disposables and with all the benefits of cloth. Some of the benefits are:

Saving money: You will save a lot of money with the change to cloth. Disposable diapers will cost you thousands of dollars each year and you will end up throwing them in the trash once used. It seems like such a waste when you are able to use cloth over and over again.

Easy: You can’t get a disposable diaper that is any easier to use than a cloth one. With the advances in design these amazing diapers offer everything that the other diapers do, and they offer it at less than half the cost.

They keep the baby healthy: Keeping your child healthy is always a priority, and whether you realize it or not you are endangering them when they wear disposable diapers. The absorbing gel that is in the diapers is also toxic. It’s just not worth it.

They are comfortable: Your baby will be so much more comfortable in the cloth baby diapers. Disposable diapers usually create a lot of problems with diaper rash. That is not comfortable to any child.

Changed: The new and modern diapers have changed so much from the ones our moms used. They come in many different colors and designs, and also have little tabs to secure the diaper on your baby. This is a much better feature for those of you who don’t relish the thought of using those little safety pins as fasteners.

Good choice for the environment: Disposable diapers do not break down for hundreds of years. There is no need to worry about that with cloth. It’s our world and we need to take care of it.

Potty training: If you don’t want to have to struggle to get your child toilet trained then cloth diapers are perfect for you. They will make potty training easier by making your toddler more aware of their bodily functions. Disposable diapers usually mask that awareness with a false sense of dryness.

The main reason that you should make the switch to cloth diapers is your baby. Cloth diapers are better for them, and that is really the only reason that you should need.

Infant Crib Sheets: Baby Bed Reliability is a Burning Issue

Babies No Comments »
by Dorothea Frankson

Being a part of a throwaway society, something about our baby things tells us to hang on to them. In spite of that, while you are carrying your baby, many people will be lining up to share their used furniture from their nurseries and their old crib bedding. You will appreciate these offers of baby bedding and cribs since babies can cost a lot of money. Before using any baby bedding, be sure that it is completely safe.

Whether it is a Moses basket or baby crib, there is something very special about your child’s first bed. You’ll probably be taking some time to refinish the crib if you’ve been given a hand-me-down. If so, this is the perfect time to make sure that the bed is safe. You may have new looking bedding and crib, but you must always check them for safety purposes. An old wicker cradle can be beautiful to look at but check for safety as there may be loose or broken bits of wood, and some joints can become loose or weakened from age; we also would recommend that you replace the mattress with a new one. The baby might shove loose threads or pieces of material into his mouth, so when fitting the skirt make sure to remove them.

Any loose threads or pieces of material may end up in the child’s mouth, so when the drapes have been fitted, be sure to pick these things up. It is suggested by the Juvenile Products Manufacturer’s Association (JPMA) in America, and also by and British Standards (BS) in the United Kingdom, that you should not use old blankets and baby furniture if you can possibly replace them. Purchase new bed goods for your child’s safety. The products displaying either the JPMA stamp of endorsement or the BS ‘Kite’ symbol have been put to the test to ensure that they satisfy all of the proper safety standards.

Previously used items are fine as long as they still meet safety requirements because it’s economical and environmentally correct to recycle usable baby bedding. As your baby will spend quite a good time in the crib, it is worth spending time on it to see whether it is safe and comfortable. Here are some tips to bear in mind when assessing the safety of the equipment you have for your baby. First off, always make sure to check for spots where a child’s clothes might get caught and any chipped, loose, or toxic lead paint. Make sure you purchase a crib where the bars are extremely close together, (closer than 2 & 3/8 inches apart), and there are no holes anywhere, to protect your baby’s head. The fixings and joints should be holding tight to keep the crib from shaking too much. It should only take one hand to raise and lower the side rail. Once raised, it should be fully secured. The final point to verify is that the mattress is clean and firm and the top of the side rail is at least 22 inches above the mattress.

A new baby deserves a new mattress that is safe and securely fits into the crib. Nursery bedding can lead to a possibility of suffocation; to reduce this, remove the bumper or keep it very tightly tied so that the baby cannot grab it and pull it down. Babies under the age of 12 months should not have access to the following in their cribs: duvets, quilts, sheepskin or pillows, while use of these items could cause overheating. Blankets and sheets with a good thermometer in the babies room will help assure comfort. You will be astonished at a baby’s ability to climb and reach things, so cribs must be kept away from curtains, window blinds, cords, lamps or nearby furniture onto which they might lift themselves.

Always remember to enjoy every moment with your baby, they grow up before you even realize it.
