Acne And You: Natural Remedies For Acne For Your Teenager

Parenting Add comments

One of the most uncomfortable and wide-spread issue affecting self esteem is acne. It affects 89% of teenagers due to hormones, though it can continue severely in adults. This is especially trying when one has sensitive skin and cannot use facial scrubs, or acne medication would conflict with current and more important medication. What is to be done? What natural remedies for acne are there?

Firstly, one must look at hygiene and diet. If you keep yourself clean and exfoliate regularly, shower and wash your face at least once per day, you are already on the right track. Diet is trickier because every body reacts differently to food. However, a poor diet tends to exacerbate skin problems. Do not eat food that is too greasy or sugary. Soda is one of the worst culprits. Drinking a lot of water has been proven to help clear skin.

If you are stressed out, your skin will show it. Long periods of relaxing and whatever other steps you need to take for good mental and psychological health will show through on your clear skin. One natural and very old remedy is any cleanser with sulphur in it. Sulphur exfoliates the skin and has antiseptic properties, so it is safe to use. The same is said of zinc.

Aloe Vera can reduce the swelling of acne, but will not cure it. Tea tree oil is praised in the same way. Some people also swear by getting out into the sun. Sweating in any form of exercise is good, too, because sweat will flush out your pores. It will also jump-start your circulation and will force you to take a shower.

When all is said and done, though, ‘natural’ remedies may be no remedies at all for very serious cases. If you need something long-term and very potent, you must contact a dermatologist. They can not only give you natural tips to help, but they can give you medications or scrubs that will actually cure and prevent acne.

There are myriad solutions if you look in the right place. Creams, scrubs, and medications–in combination or alone–can be put together to help your specific skin type. The problem is that acne can be a hormonal or hereditary problem which is not cured by natural remedies; medication is needed. It is nothing to be embarrassed about, however, since almost all people suffer through it at some point in their lives.

You would need something much more hard-hitting, meaning a medication. There have been numerous advances and break-throughs in this field; you don’t have to suffer through skin complaints when there are safe options that can be tailored to fit you. The only way to know what is right for you is to contact a doctor. A few imperfections on a surface as large as the skin are to be expected over the course of a person’s life, but that does not mean you have to suffer low self-esteem because of it.
